Some of the 41 restaurants in our list are nominees from the “best pizza” category of our 2023 Best of Detroit, others we found after a bit of research and asking around, but all are worth a try on your future pizza nights.

Buddy’s Pizza

Founded in 1946, Buddy’s pizza takes the title of the “Original Detroit-Style Pizza.” They have 16 full-service locations in and around Detroit, along with seven carry-out only locations. In 2018, this Ferndale spot was reopened after a renovation by Chefs Zack Sklar and Josh Humphrey. ٴdzԴ’s might be the largest pizza company in the world today, but it got its start in Ypsilanti in 1960. This spot opened in 1955 and offers pizzas in original round, thin crust, or square.
