The weekend is quickly approaching and with it comes a wide variety of events for metro Detroiters. Here, we offer details on some of our favorite happenings coming to town this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday including a concert with Train and REO Speedwagon, the Thunder Over Michigan Air Show, this year鈥檚 Concert of Colors, the second weekend of Blake鈥檚 Lavender Festival, the Ann Arbor Art Fair, and more.

Concert of Colors

Ann Arbor Art Fair

Featuring nearly 1,000 artists and spanning 30 city blocks, this summer tradition in downtown Ann Arbor is made up of three separate events: the Ann Arbor Street Art Fair, the Original; Ann Arbor Summer Art Fair; and Ann Arbor State Street Art Fair. As the largest juried art fair in the country, it draws artists from around the U.S. displaying works in a variety of mediums, including paint, ceramics, glass, jewelry, and sculpture.听July 18-20. Farmington Founders Festival

Dancin鈥 in the Street

Blake鈥檚 Lavender Festival

Festa Italiana

Armenia Fest

This year鈥檚 festival honors Manoogian Manor and will feature a wide variety of activities to completely immerse guests in Armenian culture including a Middle Eastern Bazaar full of handmade crafts, artwork, jewelry, and more. Royal Oak Suicide Awareness and Pet Adoption Event

This fundraising event in honor of Tatum Noelle Edison 鈥斕齛n animal lover who died by suicide 鈥 helps raise money for adoptable animals at the Oakland County Animal Shelter & Pet Adoption Center, Detroit Dog Rescue, and No Dogs Left Behind Shelter and raise awareness for suicide prevention and the importance of caring for homeless animals. The event will include on-site pet adoptions, silent auction, live bands, classic cars, a petting farm, vendor show, and more. July 20. No cost for admission but donations are encouraged. Thunder Over Michigan Air Show

Turn your eyes to the sky for two days of aerial shows. Included in the line-up are a USAF F-16 Viper, Northrop F-5B Freedom Fighter, P-51 Mustang 鈥淩ed Nose,鈥 and others. Riverfront Music Festival

Two prolific hit machines will join forces for the Summer Road Trip 2024 tour, offering fans two full sets of timeless anthems. Doctor Moloch

Witness the world premiere of this new play by Carla Milarch that grapples with what it means to be human in a rapidly evolving world. Set in 2029, the play follows actress Serena Blaise as she attempts to help the world鈥檚 first robotic doctor improve its bedside manner. Angkor Complex

In the four-year period between 1975 and 1979, roughly a quarter of Cambodia鈥檚 population died of disease, wounds, and malnutrition under the brutal rule of the communist Khmer Rouge regime. This exhibition at the University of Michigan Museum of Art will display more than 80 works that aim to illustrate the changes in the country鈥檚 visual culture in the face of inconceivable upheaval. Dinosauria

Michigan First Credit Union and the Detroit Zoo have teamed up to bring back this display of 25 animatronic lifelike dinosaurs including a Brachiosaurus, and a T-rex. It also offers a hands-on fossil dig site, and dinosaur gifts and merch for sale to commemorate your visit.听Now-Sept. 8.
